I was the chief patron of legislation that would have required third parties participating in election related communications to report the names of their top donor or top three donors if individuals/organizations gave the same amount to influence a specific election or referendum question. The bill passed the Senate two years in a row but died in the Committee on Rules in the House of Delegates.
